If you are a notary from the State of Tennessee you are going to need to run a test notarization before getting the RON approval. Here are the steps to get the test notarization:

  1. Register a notary profile, fill in all required information, and submit it for review.

  2. Our onboarding team will grant you temporary access to perform a test notarization.

  3. When you are ready to practice a test notarization, go to your Profile in your OneNotary Account. Under Profile, click "Run Test Notarization" to begin. You should upload any PDF form you wish. The purpose of it is so you can practice the online notary tools on that form. There is no pre-loaded PDF for your practice -- you'll need to choose one of your own. Here is an example.

  4. Send the invitation to a buddy (or to yourself if you have two devices). Always use Google Chrome and tell all of your signers to use Google Chrome.

Make sure the email for your buddy is not an email registered to a OneNotary online notary account. Signer accounts and Notary accounts are kept separate.

***If you go to Notary Journal and click Invite a Signer, you are in the WRONG AREA to complete a test notarization. When you Invite a Signer from your journal, you are beginning a real notary session. Go to Profile and click Run Test Notarization to proceed with a practice demo.***

  5. You will know you are running a Test Notarization if you see yellow stripes that say test notarization across the top of the screen. If you don't see yellow, stop and go back to your Profile to try again.

  6. Your signer should watch for an email from no-reply@onenotary.us. It will very likely land in a junk or spam folder. It goes out instantly when you invite your buddy signer, so they should look for it right away.

  7. As your signer progresses through the demonstration KBA, have him or her enter fake information. For example, under credit card have them enter any number, like 1111 1111 1111 1111. The expiration date does need to be a (fake) future date.

  8. When answering the five KBA questions, the signer needs to mark "Correct Answer" on each one. If the signer doesn't, the signer will fail KBA and you will not be able to proceed with the Test Notarization.

  9. The photo the signer takes of the ID can be fake, as well. There is no need to take a real photo of an ID if the signer doesn't want to.

  10. When you are progressing through the test notarization, you will review the ID photo first. You must click "Confirm ID" before you can move on. This is just like in a real session. We set the "Test Notarizations" to run as close to a real session from beginning to end as possible.

There is no limit to Test Notarizations. Do as many as you need to grow comfortable with the platform.
