If you are a notary from the State of Nevada, you are required to obtain an electronic exemplar before applying for Remote Online Notarization (RON) approval.

At OneNotary, an exemplar is a PDF document containing your electronic seal and electronic signature (matching the wet signature on your notary commission) that meets all Nevada Secretary of State requirements. The exemplar is created during an online notary session and sealed with your notary’s digital certificate through an approved e-notary solution provider (OneNotary is listed among Nevada’s approved providers).

To obtain an exemplar, please follow these steps:

  1. Create a signer account on the OneNotary platform.
  2. Send an Exemplar request to the OneNotary support team and provide:
    • Your notary account email
    • Your signer account email
  3. OneNotary will create a notarization session and invite you to notarize it as a notary. The onboarding team will temporarily grant you access to the platform so that you can notarize the Exemplar.
  4. To complete this process, you will need to join the notary session:
    • As a notary on your PC
    • As a signer on your smartphone
  5. An invitation to a notary session will be sent to your signer email address. Join the session on your smartphone and be prepared for Nevada-compliant multi-factor identity verification, which includes:
    • Knowledge-Based Authentication (KBA) using your name, date of birth, and the last four digits of your SSN

    • Credential analysis of your government-issued photo ID

    • Live photo capture

  6. When you log in as a notary, you will see the same notary session in your Notary Journal. Open it to start the session.

  7. Join the session for the signer’s account on a smartphone. When both participants join the notary session, the session will begin.

  8. As a notary, fill out the notary signature and notary stamp fields, ensuring your electronic signature matches the signature on your commission.

  9. After placing both your signature and seal, click the blue “Complete Session” button.

    After notarization:
    • The OneNotary Onboarding Team will review your exemplar and reply to your initial request within up to 5 business days.
    • Once you receive your approved exemplar, upload it to SilverFlume (Nevada’s official business portal) as part of your RON registration.
    • A $50 RON registration fee applies when submitting your application through SilverFlume.

By following these steps, you will produce an electronic exemplar that complies with all Nevada RON requirements and can be used to complete your state registration.
