The chat feature allows signers and notaries to communicate in case of audio or connection issues. The chat feature makes online notarizations accessible for deaf, hard of hearing, and non-verbal signers, and is compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).


How to Use the Chat Feature

In the notarization session, click the In-Session Chat icon in the lower-right corner of the screen. This will open the chat panel, where you can send text messages to all participants in the session.

Important Notes

  • Once a signer or a notary sends a message, the chat panel will automatically open for all other session participants, including any additional signers or witnesses.
  • All participants can view the messages and use the chat.
  • In compliance with state laws, even if your preference is to use chat as the primary mode of communication during notarization sessions, law requires that participants must keep the webcam on and remain visible throughout the entire session.
