The number of ID documents required for Biometric Identity Verification depends on the signer's citizenship status and the type of verification being performed.

 

The List of Acceptable ID Options
For U.S. Citizens (One photo ID required)
  • U.S. Passport or Passport Card
  • State-issued Driver’s License
  • State-issued Identification Card
  • U.S. Permanent Resident Card (Green Card)

For Non-U.S. Citizens (Two photo IDs required)

First Document
  • Foreign Passport
Second Document
  • Driver's license
  • National ID card
  • Other (if applicable — varies by country)

    Examples: Permanent Resident Card, Work Permit, Voter ID, etc.


Please note: The list of accepted second ID documents depends on your country of citizenship. The system will automatically display the options available to you during the verification process.


Exceptions

If you are getting verified through one of the following methods, you will only need to provide one photo ID:

  • Form USPS 1583 — requires one photo ID (only a foreign passport for non-U.S. citizens) and a Proof of Address.
  • Form I-9 (Employment Eligibility Verification) — requires one photo ID only.
