Acceptable Photo ID Options for Notarizing the I-9 Form

Universally Accepted Options:
National Passport U.S.


Passport Card Driver’s license


I.D. card issued by a state or outlying possession of the United States;


Acceptable In Certain States:
I.D. card issued by a state or outlying possession of the United States

Permanent Resident Card or Alien Registration Receipt Card (I-551)

Employment Authorization Document that contains a photograph (I-766)

Foreign Passport with a temporary I-551 stamp

ID card issued by federal, state, or local government agencies or entities

U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Document card

U.S. military card
